Info: "Armadillos Bar and Grill is generous with its music. Most area bars offer live weekend music, but this Southwestern eatery goes considerably further -- expect musicians every day of the week, and a $3 cover charge only on weekends.
Don't feel like paying the cover charge? Don't go upstairs, where a band usually plays; entry to the downstairs area remains free. Armadillos is a laid-back place with a twentysomething, jeans-and-T-shirt-wearing clientele. It's cheerfully noisy and busy, but not overwhelmingly crowded -- you'll have room to breathe. The downstairs bar sports two televisions, and the brick walls are decorated with framed Spanish-language movie posters of John Wayne westerns and "Danza Con Lobos." Dishes range from mushroom fajitas to mahi-mahi with mango habenero sauce.
The small upstairs area has another bar, a TV and a stage set against a brick wall with windows overlooking downtown. The musicians, mostly local, and often playing guitar rock with a folk flair, must sing valiantly through the bar clamor, but even they seem to be having fun." -- Tracy Vogel
